Kayaking & Water Adventures

Time:     9:00 AM

Place:   San Marcos River at Spencer Canoes  and  Shady Grove Campground

Cost:     single kayak $26.69, tandem $37.36,  canoe $32.03 

(Tax included, $15.00 refundable deposit required — includes flotation device, paddle, and shuttle)

 

The San Marcos River is spring-fed and a constant 72 degrees.  The water is so clear you can see the bottom.  This downstream-only trip is about 5 miles and will take 2.5 to 3.5 hours.  We’ll experience minor, minor rapids and negotiate trees hanging over the water.  A sand bar offers a resting place for lunch.  There are no portages!  Restrooms are available at the put-in location but not at the take-out location.  Styrofoam and glass containers are prohibited on the river.

 

Bring: Sack lunch, water, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a change of dry clothes.  Wear water shoes or shoes that can get wet, bathing suit, shorts, T-shirt. 

 

 

Directions:  Meet at Barton Creek Chase Bank at 2224 Walsh Tarlton — just north of Loop 360 on the west side of Walsh Tarleton across from Barton Creek Square Mall.  At the intersection with Tamarron Blvd, turn west into the bank lot.  Park in the lower lot next to the drive-thru facility
